Emily Clark (Saskatoon, SK) did not waste any time making her presence known on the International Stage. So far Clark has 2 goals and 1 assists, totaling for 3 points in 3 games. Team Canada has gone undefeated through the preliminary round, opening up against Switzerland on New Years Eve (13-1), before beating Germany 6-0 on New Years day and then taking it to Finland 7-0 earlier today. Clark is the youngest player on the team (1995 birth year) and has played on Team Saskatchewan’s U18 Team back in February (4th place finish) for the Canada Games and most recently, at the U18 Nationals in November where the team placed 8th. Team Canada will most finish at the top of their pool, which earns them a bye into the semi-finals. They will play in the semi’s this Friday, January 6th before playing in the medal rounds on Saturday, January 7th. UPDATE (Jan. 6, 2012): Team Canada National Women’s Under-18 Team and Emily Clark are headed to the World Championship Final tomorrow. Team Canada blanked Team Sweden today in the semi-final game by a score of 5-0. Clark picked up an assist on the 2nd goal of the game. Team Canada will now face Team USA in the final tomorrow in Zlin, Czech Republic. UPDATE (Jan 9, 2012): Team Canada wins Gold at the U18 World Championships, beating the USA 3-0 in the Gold medal match. Emily Clark, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was held off of the scoresheet in the final game; however finished with 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) throughout the 5 games of the Championship.
