In 2002, the Saskatchewan Hockey Association created the SHA Legacy Fund. This fund was created to provide a reserve fund to be used for the continued development and promotion of amateur hockey in Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan is recognized nationally as a hotbed for hockey. Despite its’ small population, the province has produced a number of national championship teams and has developed a number of players who have gone on to play at the professional and international level. The province has also developed a reputation for developing elite coaches and officials. Some of these accomplishments can be attributed to the strong grass-root development programs of the SHA. However, the passion for the game shared by the people of the province is the reason for the success of Saskatchewan teams, athletes, coaches and officials.
The SHA is aware that hockey in Saskatchewan is community-centered and that the game teaches participants valuable life skills such as teamwork and discipline as evidenced by our slogan:
"Shaping character for life ... more than a game."
By donating to the SHA Legacy Fund, you'll leave a legacy to the children and future generations. Your donation will ensure:
- The future development of all SHA programs
- Development opportunities for Saskatchewan athletes, coaches, officials and administrators
- Children will have opportunities to build lasting relationships with their peers
- Development of life skills through hockey experiences
- Children will have the opportunity to learn self-respect, self-confidence, self-esteem and realize dreams through hockey activities.
