Announcement: SaskFirst Summer Camps to be Held Virtually

Friday, July 31, 2020 - The Saskatchewan Hockey Association has announced the SaskFirst Summer Camps brought to you by SaskTel will be conducted on a virtual platform this season. The Female Under-16, Female Under-18 and Male Under-16 high-performance programs were set to meet up in Regina from August 7-9 but will now move to an online format.

“We felt this decision was in the best interest of player and staff safety and in accordance with provincial guidelines. With the online meetings, we are still able to deliver the bulk of the experience we planned for, just without the physical interactions.”

Joel Houseman, Senior Coordinator of High Performance

The SaskFirst Summer Camps under normal circumstance would have these groups gather in Regina for a weekend of off-ice; team building, dryland exercises and multi-sport activities. With the online format, the players will participate in presentations from their respective coaching staffs and include guest speakers, Kyle McDonald of Competitive Will Performance and Daniel Yaskowich of Level 10 Fitness.

A decision regarding SaskFirst Fall Camps and national competition for the Female Under-18 and Male Under-16 programs is still to be determined. The Female Under-16 competition which is typically held in the Fall has been cancelled with no makeup date announced at this time.
