The SHA Board of Directors held a meeting on Aril 22 & 23, 2017 in Saskatoon.

The following Board Members were not present;

Dale Tesarowski, Illness

Greg Haubrich

Pete Hubick, SHA Representative at Esso Cup

Chad Holinaty, Present Sunday only

Len Thomas, Out of Country

Todd Lumbard

Randy Magnus, Regards Sunday, SHA Representative at Telus Cup

Erik Knudsen, Present Saturday only

Aaron Dymterko, Present Saturday only

Ken Person, Present Saturday only

Bill Chow, Present Saturday only

The highlights of the meeting were as follows;

  • AA Committee Mandate – First Meeting held. Some very good discussion, Look forward to continued work.
  • Per Diems for the Board of Directors were amended for both in and out of province
  • Due to the workload experienced by the Officer in Charge of Discipline, their office allowance was increased to reflect the additional work
  • Sask First – some changes were approved;
    • Bantam – Increase the Christmas Event by a day with 160 kids involved
    • Bantam – April event will see only 80 players taken from the Christmas event
    • Bantam and Midget Events will be held on the same week in Regina
    • Female Midget – for 2018/19 add one additional year of eligibility
    • Female U16 – for 2018/19 cease program until a Western U16 event is established
  • Playing Rules
    • No change icing shall be implemented at the Bantam AA level and higher through Midget, Junior and Senior and be from the defensive blue line and in, beginning in the 2017/18 season.
    • That Face Offs shall be moved to the offending team’s end upon a penalty in all ages and levels of hockey, beginning in the 2017/18 season.
  • That a Grassroots Goaltending Initiative will be incorporated for the 2017/18 season to train Goaltender instructors/coaches at the MHA level
  • 2017/18 Budget and Capital Budget approved
  • 2018 Hockey Day in Saskatchewan Awarded to Balcarres
  • Approval for the transfer of investments from a CIBC Bond Index Fund to Wood Gundy
  • Approval on several Notices of Motion to alter SHA Registration Regulations that have since been sent to the membership
  • Staff were directed to organize a meeting of female hockey in the Northern Half of the Province to assess Female Hockey Development in the North
