The SHA Board of Directors held a meeting on April 21 - 22, 2018 in Saskatoon.


The following Board Members were not present:

Randy Magnus, at the Telus Cup

Pete Hubick, at the Esso Cup

Tim Bear, Personal

Erik Knudsen, Personal

Brian Archer, Personal

Greg Haubrich, Personal

Terry Ellis, Illness

Bill Chow, Personal

 

The highlights of the meeting were as follows:

  • Hockey Canada Items
    • Hockey Canada Task Team formulation with SHA Nominees for Task Teams dealing with; Program Delivery (Officiating); Recruitment; Retention; National Championships
    • Spring Congress Meeting in Regina
    • Two Sask Female Bantam players attended the Hockey Canada Female Global Game in Ontario
       
  • Partnering with the Western Hockey League on an Officiating Video Proposal to assist in coaching officials
     
  • Starting the creation of a new Board Orientation Package
     
  • Approved a Staff Operational Plan
     
  • Positive Financial Forecast for the 2017/18 Season
     
  • Approved Budget for the 2018/19 Season
     
  • Approved SHA Participant Fee Increase to $48.00 from $42.00 due to increase in insurance rates from Hockey Canada
     
  • Denied of the Prairie Hockey Academy Sport School Application for a Bantam team for 2018/19 season – only approved for a Midget 15 and Midget Varsity teams as were approved by the Canadian Sport School League
     
  • The Board of Directors approved various small amendments to Registration Regulations
     
  • The Board of Directors is reviewing and amending their Code of Conduct Policy
     
  • The Board of Directors approved a few amendments to present at the SHA Annual General Meeting for the Association’s Bylaws
     
  • The Board of Directors discussed how to address Novice Hockey in the future considering the Hockey Canada decision for 2019/20 to have at least the first half of the year seeing ½ ice only at Novice for practices and games
     
  • The Board of Directors reviewing feedback from the Zone Meetings and approving the proposals from the Sask Minor Female Development Committee on the following
    • Divisional Value Statements
    • Sask AA Hockey League
    • Sask Female Hockey League
    • Western Bantam Championship – no longer involvement
    • Sask Female Development Model
       
  • The Board of Directors approving Recommendations from the SHA Awards & Recognition Committee regarding Award recipients for the 2017/18 season
     
  • The Board of Directors approved recommended location for the 2019 Hockey Day in Saskatchewan
