“There are so many people from our province who have made outstanding contributions to this great game that choosing the inductee class each year is always difficult. With such a rich hockey history in Saskatchewan, we know we once again have a superb class to induct,” stated SHHOF Board of Director Co-Chairs Blair Davidson and Jack Brodsky.
Each year the SHHOF celebrates the contributions and achievements of players, builders, teams, officials and those at the grassroots level. The annual induction dinner is rotated around the province in partnership with the Saskatchewan Hockey Association to promote the SHHOF, celebrate local inductees while raising funds which benefit the local host community. This year the event is being hosted back in Swift Current, the home of the SHHOF, and will bring financial support to the Swift Current Broncos Junior Hockey Team.
“The Swift Current Broncos are excited to be given the opportunity to host the 2018 Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Banquet,” stated Dianne Sletten, Director of Business Operations for the Broncos. “It will be a great event to help raise education finds for our team and for the operations of the Hall of Fame that we are lucky to have here in Swift Current.”
In addition to the official induction of the 2018 SHHOF Class and a special presentation to the Community of Humboldt, the SHHOF Induction Dinner will also feature TSN Anchors Kate Bierness and Natasha Staniszewski as the event’s Emcees.
“We are thrilled to be hosting such a great night here is Swift Current,” stated Jerrod Schafer, chair of the host committee. “It will be a special evening welcoming Hayley (Wickenheiser) back to the Southwest and to celebrate so many deserving inductees.”
