Team Saskatchewan Coaching Staffs Announced for 2019/20 Season

Wednesday, May 15, 2019 – The SaskFirst High-Performance program is excited to introduce the 2019-2020 coaching staffs for Team Saskatchewan. The three (3) programs include; the Male Under-16, Female Under-18 and Female Under-16 teams.

“We are really excited about the three coaching staffs that have been assembled for the Team Saskatchewan Programs.  We are fortune to have a lot of great hockey knowledge within all three coaching staffs, which will not only help our players on the ice but off the ice as well“ - Joel Houseman, Senior Coordinator of High Performance.


Male Under-16 Program

On the boy’s side, the Male Under-16 team will participate in the 2019 WHL Cup in Calgary on October 20-27. The WHL Cup brings together the four (4) western branches in Saskatchewan, B.C., Manitoba and the hosts, Alberta. The coaching staff is led by Head Coach Devan Praught (Summerside, P.E.I) along with Assistant Coaches; Rod Dallman (Prince Albert, SK), Richie Regehr (Rosthern, SK) and Ryan McDonald (Prince Albert, SK).

Coaching Staff

Devan Praught will serve as the Head Coach for Team Saskatchewan Male U16. Praught currently serves as head coach for the Notre Dame Hounds. He has back to back Saskatchewan Midget “AAA” Hockey League titles and a Telus Cup title from 2018. Devan previously served as an Assistant Coach for Team Saskatchewan at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Rod Dallman will serve as the Assistant Coach for Team Saskatchewan Male U16. Dallman currently serves as Head Coach for the Peewee AA Prince Albert Gene’s Sports Knights. He has played for the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers. Rod previously served as Assistant Coach for Team Saskatchewan at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.

Richie Regehr will serve as the Assistant Coach for Team Saskatchewan Male U16. Regehr currently serves as Assistant Coach for the Saskatchewan Midget “AAA” Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blazers. He played in the National Hockey League for the Calgary Flames and represented Team Canada at the Olympics. Regehr has previously coached with the SaskFirst program for two seasons.

Ryan McDonald will serve as the Assistant Coach and Video Coach for Team Saskatchewan Male U16. Ryan currently serves as Head Coach of the Bantam AA Warman Wildcats. He has played in the Western Hockey League, as well as University hockey for the U of Saskatchewan Huskies. Ryan has previously coached with the SaskFirst program for two seasons.


Female Under-18 Program

On the girl’s side, the Female Under-18 program will faceoff in the National Women’s Under-18 Championship on November 2-10 in Morden and Winkler, Manitoba. The coaching staff is led by Head Coach, Nolan Horbach (Wilkie, SK) along with Assistant Coaches; Colleen Sostorics (Kennedy, SK), Jean Fauchon (North Battleford, SK) and Noel Kingwell (North Battleford, SK).

Coaching Staff

Nolan Horbach will serve as the head coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U18. Horbach currently serves as Assistant Coach for the Women’s University of Saskatchewan Huskies. He was the Female U16 Team Saskatchewan Head Coach during the 2018 season. Horbach has previously coached with the SaskFirst program for over 3 seasons.

Colleen Sostorics will serve as the Assistant Coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U18. Sostorics currently serves as Assistant Coach for the Women’s University of Regina Cougars. She is a three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, three-time Women’s World Championship Gold Medalist, three-time Olympic Silver Medalist, three-time Western Women’s Hockey League Champion.

Jean Fauchon will serve as the Assistant Coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U18. Fauchon currently serves as Assistant Coach for Women’s University of Saskatchewan Huskies. He has also served as Assistant Coach and Video Coach with Team Saskatchewan for over seven years going into the 2019-20 season.

Noel Kingwell will serve as the Assistant Coach and Video Coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U18. Kingwell currently serves as Assistant Coach for the Saskatchewan Bantam “AA” Hockey League’s Saskatoon Maniacs. Kingwell has coached in the SaskFirst program for over ten years.


Female Under-16 Program

The Female Under-16 program will participate in the Summer Showcase which is scheduled to take place in Swift Current on September 5-8. The coaching staff is led by Head Coach, Terry Pavley (Prince Albert, SK) along with Assistant Coaches; Chad Kish (Weyburn, SK),Kori Herner (Kindersley, SK) and Brett Bookout (Moose Jaw, SK).

Female U16 Coaching Staff

Terry Pavley will serve as the Head Coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U16. Pavely currently serves as Head Coach for the Saskatchewan Women’s Hockey League’s Swift Current Wildcats. Has been involved with the Team Saskatchewan program for three seasons. Recently, Pavely served as Head Coach of Team Saskatchewan at the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Under Pavely, Team Saskatchewan earned a fourth-place finish which is the highest placement by a Team Saskatchewan in Women’s hockey at Canada Winter Games.

Chad Kish will serve as the Assistant Coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U16. Kish currently serves as Head Coach for the Saskatchewan Female Midget “AAA” Hockey League’s Weyburn Gold Wings. He has been involved with Weyburn minor hockey programs, from Initiation to Midget AAA over the past seventeen years. Kish was part of the 2014 Weyburn Gold Wings that captured the Esso Cup. Kish has been involved with the SaskFirst program for over five seasons.

Kori Herner will serve as the assistant coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U16. Herner currently serves as the Assistant Coach for the Saskatoon Comet Legends. Herner played five years for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and has been involved with the Saskfirst program in 2018.

Brett Bookout will serve as the Assistant Coach and Video Coach for Team Saskatchewan Female U16. Bookout currently serves as Assistant Coach and Video Coach for the University of Regina Cougars’ women’s team. He has been involved with the SaskFirst programs for over four seasons going into the 2019-20.
