Clarke Gets a Taste of International Hockey
Wednesday December 13th, 2017 - Alex Clarke has had many successes since her return to officiating during the 2015-16 season and she hopes there are more to come. Clarke has a goal of one-day working as an official in the Olympics and she recently received notice of an assignment that is as about as close as you can get to her Olympic dream.
Clarke was selected to work the final game of the six-game Hockey Canada National Women’s Team series versus the USA. The game will be played in Edmonton on Sunday, December 17 at 6pm. Clarke will work the game on the lines.
The series versus the USA started October 22 and has passed through Quebec, Boston, St. Paul, Winnipeg, San Jose and will conclude in Edmonton.
This recent assignment adds to an already great season for Clarke, who reffed the gold medal game at the Women’s Under-18 National Championship in November in Quebec City, was one of four officials to in the first ever all-female crew in the Prairie Junior Hockey League and will also be going to Mexico City January 3 to February 4 for the 2018 IIHF Women World Division I Group B Championships.
