Lieffers Selected as Top Official and National Assignment
It has been a pretty impressive hockey season for one of the SHA’s top female officials who got her start in Cudworth.
Earlier this season, Cianna Lieffers received her Hockey Canada Level 5, the highest level for female officials in the country, making her just the second Saskatchewan official to reach that level joining Michelle Stapleton.
Lieffers and Stapleton were also the referees in the first all-female crew to work a Prairie Junior Hockey League game in Saskatoon, this past December.
Things just keep getting better, as this week Lieffers was presented with the Saskatchewan Female Midget "AAA" Hockey League's (SFMAAAHL) Melodie Boulet Award for the Top Female Official. For Lieffers it is her third time receiving the award in the last four seasons.
At the next level of female hockey, Lieffers was also selected to referee the Women’s USports Championship in London, Ont. March 15-18. This will be the first time for Lieffers to referee the National Championship, as she was selected to work on the lines earlier in her career.
This is just another stride forward in her development and hopefully moves her another step closer to her goal of one day being an official in the Olympics.
Cianna Lieffers is presented with her third Top Female Award in the last four season by SHA Referee’s Division Female Development Coordinator Barry Schrader in Prince Albert before the Prince Albert Bears and Battlefords Sharks faceoff in SFMAAAHL playoffs.
