OPOE Regional Camp Officials

Three SHA officials have been chosen to attend the OPOE Regional Camp in Richmond, BC September 25-27, 2015.

Hockey Canada's Officiating Program of Excellence (OPOE) is entering into its 13th season.  Hockey Canada and its member Branches, in cooperation with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and the National Hockey League (NHL), have created a program which assists in the development of aspiring top amateur and international officials.  The partnership brings together the resources of Professional, Major Junior and Amateur officiating programs joining to provide a unique development opportunity for officials.

The Program of Excellence allows for the exposure of officials to the CHL and NHL while continuing their progression towards being a top-level Amateur official.  The OPOE allows for all parties to benefit, most importantly the officials being nominated and selected by their Branches to participate in this program.  It is designed as an officiating talent identification and training program for elite officiating prospects, which extends beyond Branch officiating development.

Branches continue to develop officials through Branch Camps, and identify top officials from these Camps to be nominated for attendance at the Regional OPOE Camps.  These camps include skating sessions, fitness testing, fitness education, and official interviews.

The following SHA officials will be attending the OPOE Regional Camp in Richmond, BC Sept 25-27:
