Regina's Watson set to referee 1000th NHL Game

Brad Watson, formerly of Regina, is set to become the 22nd NHL referee to officiate 1,000 NHL games on Tuesday, January 21 in Denver, Colorado.

The Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Colorado Avalanche tonight (January 21), in which Watson will be honoured with a pre-game ceremony and video tribute.

Joining Watson for the pre-game ceremony will be his wife (Amy), son (Reid), daughter (Genabeth), as well as his father (Bob), brother (Craig), and sisters (Karen and Leslie).

Watson's officiating resume includes two Memorial Cups (1986, 1992), a World Junior Hockey Championship (1989), Spengler Cup (1992), World Cup of Hockey (1994), and seven Stanley Cup Finals (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012, and 2013).  Brad is also scheduled to officiate an outdoor game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, January 25.
