Saskatoon’s Stapleton & Regina’s Funke off to Calgary

Michelle Stapleton (Referee – Saskatoon) & Krista Funke (Linesman – Regina) have recently been selected to officiate at the 2016 CIS Women’s National Championship being held in Calgary, AB from March 17th-20th, 2016.

Michelle is one of only 7 Female Level V officials in Canada after she attended Hockey Canada’s inaugural Female Level V Officiating Seminar in August, 2014.  She recently worked the Female National Under 18 Championships in 2013, and worked the same tournament as a Linesman in 2009.  Currently, Michelle officiates in various Leagues including Male & Female Midget AAA, Female CIS, Male Junior B, as well as enjoying her first season as a Linesman in the SJHL.

Krista is a Level III Linesman, who only recently returned to officiating a couple seasons ago.  After coming home to Regina from the University of Toronto, where she was a goalie for the U of T Women’s hockey team, she began officiating again in the 2013-14 season.  Last season, Krista was selected as a Linesman for the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC.  Following a successful tournament in Prince George, she was selected as a Linesman to the 2015 Female National Under 18 Championships this past November in Ontario.  The 2015-16 PJHL Linesman of the Year has been kept busy this winter, officiating in Leagues such as Female Midget AAA, Female CIS, Male Midget AAA, and the PJHL.  In addition, she is also in the midst of her first season as a Linesman in the ACAC and SJHL leagues.

Congratulations and best of luck to Michelle & Krista in Calgary!
