BENEFITS OF HOCKEY
Hockey is more than just a game for our entertainment; it is a catalyst to help teach us the right values in life in order to be a successful, well rounded person.
Similar to other team sports, hockey can bring many advantages compared to those that are played individually. Other than the obvious health benefits of getting physical activity, participants improve coordination, strength, flexibility, reflexes and agility. Maybe even more important, are the life skills that hockey players learn from a young age and carry on well past their hockey playing careers. Players learn to work as a team towards a common goal, develop strong communication and listening skills and respect for authority and rules. Participants also develop self-confidence, patience, self-esteem and sportsmanship that will help them in all areas of their lives.
The goal of the SHA is to lead, develop and promote positive hockey experiences.
Shaping character for life…more than a game.
